i ♥ old people

So, I've noticed that all old people have the same weird things, and I just wanted to know where they got them!
I mean, so many old ladies have those plastic hood things? And they kind of look like those caps you streak your hair with? And they wear them all the time when they're walking around town! Seriously, where do they get them? Have you ever seen them being sold places? I haven't.
And those walker things that carry their items? Yeah, I haven't seen them being sold anywhere. And the fun ones where they can fold it into seats! Those are pretty cool, but I'd have no idea where to buy them.
Oh, old people. They're cute. I like them, when they're nice and not crotchety.

And that was my topic of the day.

this.

Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80's movies?
I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window.
I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey.
I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me.
I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me.
Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason.
But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life.

how to deal

Sometimes, life's gonna be hard.
Most of the time, really, it's gonna be hard.
Each time harder than the last.
You're going to have so many situations where you think to yourself, 'when will it be better?'
Until you're next bad situation comes along, you won't realize you WERE better.
But maybe try coping with something different. Yes, it's hard, but you can't lash out because something went wrong in your life. The people who you lash out on, they have something wrong in their life, too.
Nothing can go completely as planned. The only thing getting you past the hard times, is when you come to grips with not being in control.
Yeah, bad things will happen. But how is getting mad at someone else about your situation going to help that?
You gotta slow down, you're doing fine, you can't be everything you wanna be before your time.

Take the advice from Billy Joel.
Something good will wait for you.

its okay to not be okay

so, our town has been hit by a bout of sadness. a girl, who was 18, hit a icy patch, and the nub and gist of it, she didnt make it.
and yes, doing the math, i am also 18. i did know her. not extremely well, we went to different schools, but a couple of my close friends were close friends with her. so we've hung out before, she was on my soccer team when we were little, and we'd be in the same room every now and then.
i can't imagine being one of her very close friends right now, or even her family. my thoughts and prayers go out to them, for sure.
I didn't know her well enough to feel comfortable doing anything. like, making my facebook status 'rip' or 'the good die young' or anything like that.
i just want her friends to know that if they need someone to cry to, i am here.
i will listen, cry with you, stay strong for you, pray with you. whatever you need at the time.
i will buy you chocolate and watch a girly movie with you, or anything.
im so proud of everyone who is going through this, their group of friends has really banded together, and i'm sure that's what she would've wanted. from what i knew of her, she wanted everyone to have fun and be happy. and seeing all of her friends get together and reminisce about the good, the bad, and the ugly, must be a very beautiful thing for her. so don't give up hope, don't give up anything. just try and remember what she would've wanted.

rest in peace.
