Stop Hatin.

I have no shame in loving Taylor Swift, even though 98% of her songs are about her liking boys and boys liking her.
I think she'd want to be my friend.

public announcement

This is not a rant. I know, shocking. And while it may seem like a rant, I promise you it is not. It is a public service announcement.
Have you ever worked in a movie theater before? For 87% of you, the answer is probably no. But I bet 99.9% of you have been in a movie theater before. It's a good time. You get popcorn and pop and candy and hot dogs. Yeah, all fun and games. But I'm going to teach all of y'all how to properly act at a movie theater. Mainly, this is an etiquette lesson. Because I work at a movie theater. And it's extremely frustrating when people don't play along.
We're going to start off with buying your tickets. When you come in, and buy a ticket, please specify if you are a senior. Or if you have a child, and preferably the child's age. The people who run the till are not psychic. Especially when  I straight up ask you 'Just a general admission?' and you say 'Yes,' and I take your money, and make your change, and then decide to tell me you're a senior. Please pay attention. At 100% of movie theaters, there is a price list directly beside the till, with all of the prices, for which times, and for what age you can pay which price. Which brings me to my next point.
Signs. Y'all gotta learn to read. It's the 21st century. There are signs everywhere, and I don't physically understand how you can walk into a place and not notice the signs. Please do not act shocked when I tell you outside food or drinks aren't allowed. Because, a) there is a sign on the front door, the lobby doors, and a giant sign right beside the till saying so, and b) It's a movie theater...if you aren't smart enough to know to sneak in your food, you're a dumbass who doesn't deserve to go to a movie. Seriously, almost all movie theaters in the world will not let you bring your own food into the theater, so suck it up.
Concession. Yes, it's expensive. Movie theater concession prices are expensive. It is a long running joke in the world, and basic common knowledge. This is where you get a bit of an in depth looks at movie theaters. I will put it here in bold. Movie theaters do not make a lot of money off of admissions. The studio's who release the movies get a percentage of the tickets (up to 100% for the first week), so really, that's almost a loss to the theater. All of the money that is made is from the concession. So yes, we may be charging $4.75 for a box of Mike and Ike's, but we are a business. The concession stand is not made to please you. It is made to make the theater money. If you aren't willing to pay the prices, please eat before you come to the theater. If you are going to stand there and make the concession staff uncomfortable by telling them (who, by the way, do not make the prices) how expensive things are, you really should just leave. You are probably a horrible person.
Popcorn. This is the main reason I wrote this blog. Society needs to learn this. Movie theaters rarely use vacuums in their lobbies, because it is extremely loud and distracting, and popcorn kernels are pretty big. We usually use brooms with those stand up dustpan things. Which means we have to sweep all of the popcorn you drop. And it's an extreme task. When there is lots of people, that means there's lots of popcorn. Which means lots of popcorn will be dropped. And once it's on the floor, it's going to get stepped on, and shattered into teeny tiny bits that are a huge hassle to sweep up. So please, I beg of you, try not to spill your popcorn.
Children. This is my final point. I understand that kid movies are fun to go to with your children, and an easy way out. But YOU need to understand that when bringing a child to a movie theater, or anywhere in public for that matter, you must look after them. Children stomp, climb, jump, scream, and everything else that is loud and obnoxious that you can think of. And in this day and age, if your child gets hurt, you will most likely sue the place they are at. Which is ridiculous, because as parents, you need to watch your children. It is not the movie theater staff's responsibility to make sure your child isn't climbing on a velvet rope with a huge metal stand that could fall on their head. And it's extremely annoying for anyone working to have to break away from their jobs to look after someone else's kids. We aren't a babysitting service.

Okay. Public service announcement over. Also, don't text during movies you ignorant pricks. You complained about the prices and aren't even watching the movie, stfu.

why don't you leave?

I'm really tired of hearing people complain about their hometowns. Most of them will be here for around a week, probably less, and they still feel the need to complain. Where do I start with the annoyances?
If your parents are making you come home for Christmas, then do just that. Come on the 23, spend the 24 and 25 with your family, then leave on the 26. Three days. You will probably stay in your pajamas at home the entire time anyways, the exact same thing you'd be doing in [Insert University/Big City Name Here].
If you are here for longer, make the most of it and see your friends. Nobody's asking you to go out clubbing while you're here for the holidays, nobody probably cares if you do. If you actually care, maybe you need to rethink what's important to you if you can't go one week without going to a club.
If you live here, and complain and hate it so much, why don't you leave? Myself and plenty of other people have gone travelling, so go do that. If it's about money, you can probably find a job ANYWHERE CLOSER TO VANCOUVER THAN HERE.
I mean, really, let's figure this one out. Okay, you want to move to Vancouver. You will need $200 for a plane ticket. $100-$150 for your parents to drive you (which is more likely, because your complaining shows a lack of money on your part, which means you spend it all on useless crap that you need to tote around). Then you'll need first and last months rent, so, realistically, around $1600. So, $1600 + $150 = $1750. If you get a full time (be real, you have nothing better to do) job at McDonalds, starting at $8.50 (that's probably training wage, now?), you can make that in a month and a half. And, seeing as you probably won't work at McDonalds, and will get an actual minimum wage of $9.75 down, that cuts down the time it will take to save the money. Most franchises/national chains will be able to transfer you to a place down there, and most small businesses will have connections, or look good on a resume for a similar position. So homies living here, you have nothing to complain about. Leave. Sick of your toxic attitude.
So, the long and short of it is this, people. This is where you grew up. Or at least where your family is. So for one week out of the frigging year, shut up and make the most of being back here. At least we have a ski hill.

put on your shades, cause i'll be dancing in the flames

Okay, seriously, people need to bugger on off about what I want to do with my life. I was sitting in math tutorial the other day, and this 30 year old chick was sitting beside me and asked why I was taking business. And I was like, "oh, I want to be a financial planner!" and she was like "really?" and I said "...yeah" and she starts telling me about how that's what she did and she just wrote the exam and they gave her a job at Investors Group. So, as she basically tells me it was a waste for me to go to college when I could just take some exam, she also tells me that it sucks telling people to invest their money when the economy is bad and blah blah blah. And it's like, okay girlfriend, a) I'm in my first year first semester of business. I may and probably will change my mind a few times. and b) I HAVE FOUR FREAKING YEARS UNTIL I GRADUATE, THE ECONOMY CHANGES. Seriously. Also, if you feel bad telling them to invest, then don't. Tell them how you can help them out in this economy.
Then I had some guy come into work today, and, while it is very fair to say he may have been crazy, he told me that getting into business was a bad idea because of the economy. Once again, homeboy, I'm in my first year at college. The economy has it's ups and downs. It changes. And quickly. But without people who took business in school, it would be much harder to get out of a down economy, aiight? So lay off me.
Also, the girl in my class who works with IG and didn't go to college for it, yeah...I'm doing better in all of the courses we have together. So, pt II, suck on it. Again.

Okay and on a completely separate topic (I may have a few of those in this blog, I'm Ranty McGee today) people suck at driving. Seriously, today I was almost at an intersection with green lights, and some guy was turning right from the red light side, and he had one of those little helpful right-hand turn barricades with a yield sign on it, and instead of turning right, he just pulled a U-turn into the complete opposite direction of the right turn. As if he didn't have the extra three minutes to wait at a red light to turn left, or to take a series of right hand turns if he made a mistake. Nope, a U-turn into oncoming traffic was definitely the best way to solve his problem. And you know what? I probably would be a lot more lenient if he was old or from Alberta. But nope. This douchebag was from BC and driving an ugly early 90's jacked up pickup.
Then, tonight I was driving home from Wendy's, and was on a dark road, and this guy was speeding at me with both of his lights off! IN THE DARK. AT NIGHT. Like, I'm pretty sure the one was burnt out, and the other just wasn't on full power, but still. Don't drive around when it's dark and raining if you don't have proper headlights.
And then, to top it all off, I was going through an intersection, and some chick was turning right at her red light, and instead of being all, Oh hey, I'll just creep forward a bit so you know I won't hit you, she like, sped towards the intersection, then slammed on her breaks as I drove past. I'm so surprised we didn't swipe it's insane. Who drives like that? It's dark and raining, there is no way in hell you didn't notice that big red light in front of you.

Also I'm pretty sure that the crazy guy at work started talking to me about how not enough babies were being born because there were more women working than making babies. I don't think he understands that overpopulation is a huge issue right now. And dude, just cause I want to work, doesn't mean I'm going baby free my whole life.

This was a good ranting session. I just needed to let it all (most of it) out. My journal will be hearing the rest.

Amelia Grace

I have a new baby cousin! She is so beautiful and I love her so much and feel so blessed to have her in my life! My aunt, Mary, was my age when I was born, and we've always been extremely close, and I pray that I can be as close with her as I am with Mary.
Anyways, she was also the first baby born in the new Polson Tower, and Mary was the first person in the operating room! Well, not the first person ever, but the first person to get operated on, that's for sure!
But yes, I have a new baby cousin whom I love and cherish forever and ever amen.

Congratulations, Mary and Martin.
You guys will make the great parents.  ♥

Someday.

I've realized that I have a dream. I wish it was as ambitious as Martin Luther King, Jr's. But, alas, not as much.
Anyways, my dream is purely selfish, no matter how pretentious I act once I have achieve said goal, it will not be beneficial to anyone except myself. I want to go to every continent. Just to be able to say I've been on every continent. I've got North America and Europe down! And when it comes to North America, it's not just because I live here. I've been to New York and San Francisco and Nicaragua (I guess it's central America, but that's not technically it's own continent. So I think it counts as North?) as well as some pretty cool cities in Canada (Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, technically I've been to Toronto (but I don't remember it)).
Anyways, I've also done western Europe. I do hope to expand this into all of Europe (not every country, per se, but all over the map of Europe). I want to travel through the Baltic's and all through to Turkey.
I want to spend a year travelling Australia, New Zealand, and southeast Asia. I would love to explore all through central/northern Asia, and would love to do something out of the ordinary with it, such as North Korea. Russia would be interesting, as well. I want to travel South America, too. And I can't wait to go through Africa. I want to do a safari, and see giraffes and elephants and zebras.
And, last, and in my books, least, I would like to travel Antarctica. I don't have an extreme urge to do so, and it isn't my first place I want to travel when I have the money, but I still think it'd be cool to say I've been to Antarctica. So, sometime in the future, I'd like to do that.

I really need to win the lottery.
